Lockdown cooking!

 hey bloggers!

Like many people, I have gotten very bored this lockdown and done a lot of cooking. I have been cooking things like bread, pasta and pizza.

I have made a few different types of bread like buns, flavoured bread and multigrain bread. I have also made a pasta carbonara dinner one night and a Jamie Oliver recipe deep pan pizza.

Here are some photos:

What have you been doing to keep busy this lockdown?

Aladdin Shows!

 Hey Bloggers!

This week the Aladdin production has been on for our community to watch. The shows were so fun to be a part of and it was amazing to see all the work everybody put in in one finished show. I also had the opportunity to see cast Rua's final show on Thursday night as a part of the choir and it was so cool to actually see it from the audience instead of side stage. It was so fun to actually be up on stage performing for an audience.

My cast after the bows

Did anyone come to see the production?
See ya later!

Aladdin Prodution!

 Hey Bloggers!

Last term we worked on our production of Aladdin jr. and the shows are next week!

Aladdin jr. is a production extremely similar to the original aladdin movies with only a few changes. I am a beggar with two other beggars in cast tahi. My cast is performing a matinee performance on Tuesday and then a nighttime performance on Wednesday. We are also doing a dress rehearsal like a mini-show for a local preschool. it has been such an amazing opportunity to be part of and I'm so excited to perform it and show our final product to the community.

See you later!

Matariki Kites!

Happy Matariki everyone!

On the 2 July we celebrated the Māori New Year, a time to consider the year ahead. The days are starting to lengthen and spring will soon be here, we just need to get through this cold winter first!

Matariki and the Pleiades star cluster, have got many stories attached to them. We looked at two; one about how Ranginui and Papatuanuku were separated by Tāne Mahuta, and how Tāwhirimatea was so angry he ripped out his eyes and threw thunderbolts to the sky, creating the cluster, and another story about 7 sisters making kites, and them going to the sky. Ururangi’s kite was different from the rest, it was rainbow coloured. We have mixed these two stories to create the design of our kites.

My kite has Tawhirimatea and the wind represented with the swirls. I then painted the background in as a rainbow.

What stories have you heard about Matariki?

Terrific Tables

 Hey bloggers!

This Wednesday we worked on STEAM which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and maths. Our challenge was to create a table that would hold a textbook for at least 3 seconds, and if it held one we put another one on and saw if that would be held as well. In a team of 5, we were given 15 minutes to talk and plan our design and then 25 minutes to create our design with 10 sheets of newspaper and 1 metre of tape. After our tables had been tested we did a reflection on how our teams worked.

Here is my reflection:

I think my team worked well together and I enjoyed this activity.

Hundertwasser Art

 Hey Bloggers!

For the past couple of Wednesdays, we have been doing art in the style of the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. the main elements in all of his art are the floating eyes, hidden faces, onion domes, houses, lollipop trees, movement, layering and repetition. another part of Hundertwasser is the colour palette. the colours used in Hundertwasser art are a mix of complementary and analogous colours. complimentary colours are across from each other on the colour like orange and blue and analogous colours are next to each other in the colour wheel like green and yellow-green.

Here is my art:

you cant see my hidden face in  this picture but it is in the dots on top of the green house and i showed my layering by the lines in the background with the rest of my art over the top

Keeping Ourselves safe

 Hey Bloggers!

On Wednesdays, Toroa hub has a technology day where we go to Christchurch east school and use their technology centre. Half of the hub goes in the morning and the other half goes in the afternoon, so in the half of the day where we are at the hub, we do a different subject which changes sometimes throughout the year. This term, we have started doing a bit of work around keeping ourselves safe and our task for the last two weeks was to create a poster about what options we have in different scenarios and what consequences each of those options would have. I decided that my scenario was that you are home alone and someone you don't know is trying to get into your house. I put two options of what to do and two consequences for each as well as what I think the safest option is at the bottom of the poster

I hope you enjoyed my poster and my blog post and thought about the poster and what you think the safest option is.

Bye!

All about me and LEGO portraits!

 Hey Bloggers!

Obviously not everyone in our hub knows each other, so the teachers set us a task to help with that. we were given a task to create an "all about me" video using canva to introduce ourselves a little bit. we were told to include some information and some photos and we used some of the premade templates on canva.

Here's mine:

I hope you enjoyed my video and learned something new about me!

We were also set a task earlier in the week to create a self-portrait that looks like a LEGO character. we were given an outline and some ideas for hair and facial expressions.i found the hair the trickiest to get right, but i figured it out in the end!

Here is my LEGO portrait:

I hope you enjoyed reading my post and learned something about me!

Bye!

My 2021 Pepeha!

 Hey Bloggers!

Every year we spend a little bit of time creating ourselves a pepeha. This year we were also set a task to turn them into voiced-over videos. We included our mountains, our rivers, our iwis, where our ancestors are from, our parents, our siblings, our names, and where we live. we also had to include photos to go along with each part.

Here it is:

As you can see, my mountain is mount Te Kinga, my river/body of water is kotukuwhakaoa (Lake Brunner) and I have, me, my sister and my parents in my family.

Bye!
