Lots Of Literacy!

Hey  Bloggies!

Last week I finished my website about the Wizard Of Oz. As I said in a post om a few weeks ago, I'm going to post a link to the finished website.

Here it is!

as you can see, on my site I have information about 4 themes (Home, Friendship, Perseverance and Good Vs Evil), 4 symbols (The Ruby Slippers, The Yellow Brick Road, The Emerald City And The Wizard),  characters (Dorothy, The Tin Man, Glinda and The Wicked Witch of The West) and some quotes from throughout the book.

one of the tasks we had for literacy this week was to write an introduction to a horror story. I wore mine about a girl who wakes up at 3:00 AM and feels like something is off.

Here it is!

“You fool” he laughed as he walked away, leaving me sitting in a pool of blood.

I wake up and look over at the clock, its 3:00 AM. Something feels off so I decide to go and check on my little sister who I’m home alone with for the weekend. As soon as I walk in, something feels off. My little sister is sitting straight up on her bed just staring at the wall. I ask her what’s up but she doesn’t respond just sitting silently and staring. I start to walk out but then I hear a crash behind me...

It would sound better and make more sense as a full story but I hope you like it.

Are Our Priorities Right?

Hey Bloggies!

Another thing we did for our inquiry was we looked at an art piece about an issue and wrote a paragraph about what we thought it was about.

This is what I did.

the image I chose is an image of a person holding a sign that says "We can't feed the poor but we can fund a war." this to me is about governments and people with power having the wrong priorities of what to spend money on.

The Robber

Hey Bloggies!

last week we did a session about irony. we talked about what it is and the different types of it. the three different types of irony are situational irony, verbal irony and dramatic irony. we then chose one of those types of irony, chose a situation and made it into a comic strip. I made my comic strip with Shelby

Here it is!

We used situational irony in ours, as you wouldn't expect a robber to be scared of a book while robbing someone.

Short Week, Less Work

Hey Bloggies!

This week we made our clay koru designs. We started by taking clay, rolling it into our chosen shape and flattening it, we then used a little bit of water to smooth out the cracks and poked a hole in the top for the string to loop though when it dries.

Here is a picture of mine!

The four little koru represent each person in my family. the koru closest to the outside is my dad, the next one is my mum, the next one is my sister and the one closest to the inside is me.

We are still working on our websites or literacy and next week we will be starting genre studies.
