Koru Conundrum

Hey Bloggies!

For Māori this week and last week we made some koru art with vivid, pastel and dye. For my one I used purple, blue, pink and green pastels with black dye.

Here it is!

We did light/dark blending in each area and had patterns in each area. Once we had sketched our design,  we vivided it and we coloured it with pastel and made we sure we got everywhere that we didn't want to be black. When we had done that, we took our dye and painted the dye onto the white areas and left it to dry. Once that was done we were finished!

Marvelous Maths

Hey Bloggies!
This week in maths we have been looking at angles and polygons. We have been determining the interior angles of a shape as well as drawing some shapes using a compass- not a North/South compass, but a pair of compasses that you draw circles with.

A little run down of my knowledge is this.

And here are some examples of the work we have done on angles.

Have you ever drawn anything other than a circle with a compass?

Angles Or Angels?

Hey Bloggies!

For numeracy this week we looked at angles. one of our tasks was to create a poster about the rules of angles. I put the rules of angles on a straight line and around a point on mine.

Here it is!

As you can see, my poster tells you how many degrees the angles add up to. On a straight line, the angles add up to 180* and around a point, the angles add up to 360*. These are always true as long as a line is straight and the point has multiple angles around it.

What are you learning about in maths?

The Wizard Of Website

Hey Bloggies!

for literacy we are learning to make a website for our novel/film study on the Wizard Of Oz. we are taking characters, symbols and themes from the story and putting information about each of them onto our sites.

Here is a screenshot of my homepage so far!

I haven't done much of it yet, but i will keep working on it and post it when its done. as you can see, it has a little bit of information about the book and movie and has different sections for the themes, symbols and characters.

Have you read the wizard of oz?

The 7 wonders Of NZ

Hey Bloggies!

For numeracy in lockdown, we did a few days that we looked at navigation and the coordinates of the 7 wonders of the world. On one of those days, our task was to choose 7 wonders of NZ and turn them into a presentation with the latitude and longitude, the name of the places and a little bit about the places.

Here is my presentation:

As you can see from my presentation, the 7 wonders that i chose were Puheke Beach, Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Pools, the Franz Joseph Glacier, the Abel Tasman National Park, the Waitomo Gloworm Caves, the Tekapo Canals and Lake Brunner. I chose these 7 places because I think that they are amazing parts of NZ.
